Regional countries hail Oman for Yemen-US ceasefire

Muscat: Several regional countries have praised the Sultanate of Oman for its mediation efforts to bring a ceasefire in Yemen.


A spokesperson for the Foreign Ministry of Oman stated that following recent discussions and contacts mediated by the Sultanate of Oman with the United States and the relevant authorities in Sanaa, Yemen, to reach a de-escalation, have resulted in an agreement on a ceasefire between the two sides has been reached.


In the future, neither side will target the other, including US vessels, in the Red Sea and Bab Al Mandab Strait, ensuring freedom of navigation and the smooth flow of international commercial shipping, the foreign ministry’s spokesperson added.


The Sultanate of Oman expressed its gratitude to both parties for their constructive approach that led to the truce, hoping that it will lead to further progress on many regional issues to achieve justice, peace, and prosperity for all.


Kuwait


The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kuwait welcomed the diplomatic efforts undertaken by the sisterly Sultanate of Oman, which resulted in a ceasefire agreement between the United States of America and the relevant authorities in Sanaa, Yemen.


In this regard, the Ministry expresses its hope that this step will contribute to ensuring freedom of navigation and the smooth flow of international commercial shipping. The Ministry reiterates Kuwait's support for dialogue and diplomatic solutions to resolve contentious issues and disputes at the regional and international levels, praising the Sultanate's efforts in this regard.


Qatar


The State of Qatar welcomed the efforts of the Sultanate of Oman, which led to a ceasefire agreement between the United States of America and the relevant authorities in Sanaa in Yemen, the country's foreign ministry said.


The Ministry of Foreign Affairs expresses Qatar's hope that this agreement will help safeguard freedom of navigation and ensure the uninterrupted flow of international commercial shipping.


The Ministry reaffirmed Qatar's strong support for diplomacy and dialogue as essential tools for resolving regional issues.


It emphasized Qatar's firm belief in the importance of promoting peace, security, and development at both the regional and international levels. The Ministry also expresses Qatar's appreciation for the constructive role played by the Sultanate of Oman in reaching the agreement.


Jordan


The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates welcomed the efforts of the sisterly Sultanate of Oman, which led to a ceasefire agreement between the United States of America and the relevant authorities in the Republic of Yemen.


This agreement represents an effective step toward preventing further tension and conflict in the region and protecting freedom of navigation and international trade.


The Ministry's official spokesperson, Ambassador Dr. Sufyan Al-Qudah, affirmed the Kingdom's welcome of this agreement, which contributes to de-escalating tensions in the region and paving the way for resolving conflicts through dialogue and peaceful means, thus contributing to strengthening regional and international security and peace. Ambassador Al-Qudah reiterated the Kingdom's support for all diplomatic efforts aimed at resolving disputes and conflicts in the region, thus achieving comprehensive and just peace in the world.


Iraq


The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Iraq welcomes the distinguished diplomatic efforts made by the Sultanate of Oman in mediating between the United States of America and the relevant authorities in Sana'a, which come within the framework of supporting constructive dialogue and peaceful solutions to regional crises.


The Ministry calls for the necessity of enhancing peace and stability in the region, bringing viewpoints closer, and building bridges of trust between the various parties, thus contributing to achieving mutual understanding, based on its firm belief in the importance of dialogue as an effective tool for resolving conflicts.


The Ministry also stresses the importance of supporting efforts aimed at de-escalating the situation in Yemen and contributing to achieving comprehensive national reconciliation that ends the humanitarian suffering of the brotherly Yemeni people. In this context, the Ministry affirms that Iraq has spared no effort in supporting peaceful processes aimed at ending the conflict in Yemen, based on its firm position in support of political solutions and dialogue.


Egypt


Egypt welcomed on Wednesday the Omani-led efforts, which led to a ceasefire in Yemen between the US and relevant authorities in Sanaa.


A statement by the Foreign Ministry said that this step would reflect positively on marine navigation in the Red Sea, hoping that the upcoming period would witness calm and also lead to the end of the Israeli occupation war in the Gaza Strip. The statement also expressed support for all efforts to promote peace and stability in the region.
