Muscat: In a significant breakthrough, the Anti-Narcotics and Psychotropic Substances Department, under the leadership of the South Eastern Police Command and in collaboration with the Coast Guard Police, on Tuesday apprehended two Pakistani nationals attempting to illegally enter the Sultanate of Oman by sea. The suspects were found in possession of over 50 kilograms of marijuana, 3 kilograms of hashish, and 5,000 psychotropic pills. Legal procedures are currently underway against the accused, as authorities continue to intensify their crackdown on cross-border drug trafficking.

In recent weeks, ROP has made several key arrests in different regions of the country involving theft, smuggling, and drug trafficking.

Weeks earlier, the same police unit intercepted a major drug smuggling attempt by sea, seizing more than 95 kilograms of crystal meth and morphine. Three Omani nationals were arrested and charged with possession of the drugs with the intent to traffic. Legal proceedings are ongoing.

The Royal Oman Police continues to urge the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities through the official ROP communication channels.
