Shooting Stars Academy shines at Doha basketball tournament

Oman Shooting Stars Basketball Academy excelled in the second edition of the Doha International Basketball Tournament, organised by the DCA Group from April 17 to 21. The academy secured three top positions in a highly competitive event featuring 22 academies and sports schools from Oman, Qatar, Jordan, Saudi Arabia, Lebanon, Bahrain and Tunisia. The tournament matches were held at Al Rayyan Sports Club Arena in Qatar and witnessed high technical standards and intense competition.


The academy achieved remarkable success: the U12 girls’ team won the championship title and gold medals, while the U14 boys’ team clinched third place and the bronze medal. Additionally, the U12 boys’ team also secured third place, demonstrating the academy’s strength across various age categories.

Shooting Stars Academy participated in the tournament with four teams representing different age groups: U12 girls, U12 boys, U14 boys and U16 girls. The players delivered standout performances that impressed both fans and coaches. Among the top performers were Maitha al Maawali, who was named the best player in the U12 girls’ team, Jana Suleiman who stood out in the U16 girls’ category, Elias al Junaidi from the U12 boys and Nael Ryan from the U14 boys.


Commenting on the results, Hiba al Naabi, co-founder of Shooting Stars Academy and board member of the Oman Basketball Association, said: "This achievement reflects the hard work of everyone involved in the academy. The DCA Tournament in Qatar is one of the most significant international youth events, bringing together over 600 players from across the Arab and Gulf countries. It serves as a true platform for talent discovery and experience exchange."

She added: "Having four teams compete and winning first place along with two third-place finishes is a proud milestone and a motivation to continue developing players who can represent national teams and support clubs with promising talent."


This triumph underscores the growing stature of Shooting Stars Academy in youth basketball development in Oman and highlights its success in combining professional training with nurturing young talents to compete internationally.
