MUSCAT: The Directorate-General of Health Services in Muscat Governorate, represented by Muttrah Health Centre in collaboration with Al Nahdha Hospital, successfully organised the second edition of the specialised workshop ‘Bridging Emergency Care Across Muscat – Round 2', on Saturday.

The workshop brought together distinguished group of medical consultants and professionals from primary healthcare institutions to enhance their rapid response skills and improve the management of emergency cases.

The event covered vital aspects of emergency medicine practiced in clinical settings, with a focus on acute respiratory distress and its causes (such as heart failure, pneumonia and asthma), managing foreign bodies in the nose and ear, calming agitated patients, safe medication practices, assessing fever in infants under three months, and diagnosing limping in children.

Interactive sessions were held, providing hands-on training in airway management techniques for both adults and children, with advanced simulation tools. This included practical sessions on the insertion of laryngeal mask airways (LMA). Participants also engaged in clinical discussions on diagnosing acute chest pain, interpreting ECGs and managing epistaxis (nosebleeds).

The workshop concluded with a feedback session, where participants expressed high satisfaction with both the scientific content and the organisation, underlining the significance of such programmes in enhancing clinical skills and improving the readiness of frontline healthcare providers.

This workshop is part of the Ministry of Health's ongoing efforts to empower primary healthcare providers, ensuring they are equipped to deliver timely, safe and high-quality emergency medical services that save lives and enhance patient care.
