

MUSCAT: The 'Leadership and Therapeutic Nutrition Care Conference,' organised by the Ministry of Health, concluded in Muscat under the aupices of Dr Ahmed bin Salem Al Mandhari, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Health for Health Planning and Regulation. The two-day event was hosted by the Directorate General of the Royal Hospital.
The first day of the conference focused on a variety of topics, including evidence-based nutrition for youth and the elderly, weight loss medications, nutrition in tumors, artificial intelligence in clinical nutrition, and research opportunities in the field. It also explored change management in clinical nutrition and food security programmes.
On the second day, the conference covered essential nutrition for newborns and children in neonatal intensive care, breastfeeding studies, critical care nutrition, the role of diet in digestive system diseases, eating disorders, and equipping clinical nutritionists with quality tools.
Experts from the Kuwaiti Ministry of Health and Egypt presented lectures at the event, with 120 participants from nutrition and multidisciplinary health groups from both public and private health institutions, as well as educational and academic sectors.
The conference aims to enhance the skills of nutritionists in therapeutic nutrition, support health awareness, and activate digital health education aligned with Oman Vision 2040’s goals. - ONA
