

The Wilayat of Bahla is witnessing remarkable development, evidenced by the implementation of a number of projects at a total cost exceeding RO 9.7 million. This was stated by Shaikh Hilal bin Said al Hajri, Governor of Al Dakhiliyah.
He added that these projects include the development of road networks; and the construction and modernisation of public facilities with the aim of improving the quality of life for citizens and strengthening the infrastructure as well as positioning the Wilyat of Bahla as a major destination for heritage tourism.
The governor noted that construction work on development projects in the wilayat is progressing rapidly. The implementation rate of the internal roads project in the Wilayat of Bahla (Package 1) has hit 85 per cent at a total cost of RO 2.4 million. The maintenance and repair of damaged roads in the Wilayat of Bahla has reached 95 per cent while the implementation rate of internal roads in residential plots has reached 50 per cent. The development and rehabilitation project for the public park in the Al Mamoura area of the Wilayat of Bahla has exceeded 30 per cent.
The Bahla Souq rehabilitation project, which has reached 5 per cent completion, complements known as Asalat Bahla, which aims to develop the wilayat’s historic centre. The project is currently in the consultancy studies phase. He added that the Bahla Souq rehabilitation and development project and the Asalat Bahla projects seek to enhance local culture and provide new spaces for social outing and interaction; and provide employment and investment opportunities.
The Jabreen Entrance Development Project aims to improve and enhance the site of Jabreen Fort, one of the most important historical landmarks in the Sultanate of Oman. He explained that the project is aimed at highlighting the heritage character and enhancing visitor comfort. A walkway will also be constructed near the adjacent commercial area.
Shaikh Hilal bin Said al Hajri, Governor of Al Dakhiliyah pointed out that the Basya development project involves developing the road leading to the Salut Centre by installing modern lighting to enhance visibility and safety in addition to adding seating areas that provide convenience for pedestrians.
Furthermore, the project aims to create agricultural basins that enhance the aesthetics of the area and improve the natural landscape. He explained that the project aims to transform the area into a more attractive destination for residents and visitors, while preserving its authentic heritage identity and strengthening its infrastructure. This will contribute to the development of local tourism and improve the quality of life in the Wilayat of Bahla.
Shaikh Said bin Ali al Nuaimi, Wali of Bahla, said that the wilayat is witnessing increasing development through the implementation of several projects that meet the needs of citizens and improve their quality of life. These projects include infrastructure development, including roads, public facilities and parks in addition to enhancing basic services.
He emphasised that the Office of the Governor of Al Dakhiliyah played a pivotal role in supporting these projects, strengthening cooperation and integration between the office and the Bahla Municipal Council. He explained that ongoing meetings with the Governor of Al Dakhiliyah have resulted in the crystallisation of ideas and initiatives that contribute to the development of the wilayat.
Al Nuaimi added that the projects are characterised by their comprehensiveness and diversity as they also include water projects aimed at increasing groundwater reserves and developing agriculture.
He explained that this cooperation contributes to accelerating project implementation and achieving the desired development goals, pointing to the importance of community participation in the decision-making process, as the Governor’s Office seeks to listen to citizens’ opinions and suggestions to ensure that projects are in line with their needs.
