Oman to host key forum on food safety and quality next month

MUSCAT: Oman will host the 7th Oman International Conference on Food Safety and Quality from April 21 to 23, 2025, at the Oman Convention and Exhibition Centre in Muscat.


Organised by the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Water Resources through the Food Safety and Quality Centre, the event will address critical challenges and advancements in food safety and quality under the theme “Towards Resilient & Dynamic Food Systems”.


The conference will bring together industry leaders, policymakers and experts to discuss key topics, including the role of artificial intelligence in modernising food safety, regulatory analytical methods, food fraud prevention and sustainable food supply chains.


Supported by international organisations such as the Global Food Regulatory Science Society (GFoRSS) and the International Union of Food Science and Technology (IUFoST), the event aims to enhance global cooperation in food safety standards.


Among the core themes, discussions will focus on Modernising Food Safety and Quality Control, highlighting new technologies in traceability, storage and contamination detection.


Food Fraud and Ascertaining Authenticity will explore verification techniques, including chemical and genetic analysis, to protect consumer confidence.


The conference will also cover Regulatory Food Analytical Methods, ensuring compliance with legal frameworks governing food production and distribution.
