Muscat: To develop adventure tourism, the Ministry of Heritage and Tourism has assigned a set of works to develop three mountain trails in Dhofar Governorate to specialised local companies.
The development works include the establishment of a track for practicing high-wire activity (Via ferrata) in Jabal Samhan, which is one of the adventure activities practiced on iron tracks at high mountain heights and steep slopes.
Via ferrata is a mountain route equipped with fixed ladders, cables, and bridges to be accessible to climbers and walkers.
The development works also included providing the mountain walking trails in the Ain Hasheer and Ain Ghaydh areas with signages to direct visitors to the aforementioned trails, in addition to repainting the international trail signs.
Parts of the aforementioned trails have been paved to make them easier for their users, which will enhance the influx of visitors to the picturesque nature in those trails, such as the Tabaldi trees and Ain Ghaydh.
