MUSCAT: Every year on February 24, Oman commemorates Teachers' Day in recognition of the tireless efforts and invaluable contributions of educators in shaping the nation’s future. This day serves as a heartfelt tribute to teachers who dedicate themselves to nurturing young minds, instilling virtuous values, and fostering a culture of knowledge and progress.
To mark this occasion, the Ministry of Education (MoE) has declared Sunday, February 23, as a holiday for all public and private schools across the Sultanate of Oman, allowing educators and students to fully embrace the spirit of gratitude and appreciation.
The unwavering commitment of His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik to the teaching profession has been evident through his ongoing efforts to enhance education in Oman. His Majesty has consistently ensured that educators receive the support they need to keep pace with evolving teaching methodologies, modern technologies and advancements in artificial intelligence. His dedication was particularly highlighted during his visit to Sultan Faisal bin Turki School for Boys in Al Amerat, Muscat, where he engaged with students and educators, emphasising the importance of equipping schools with state-of-the-art resources. Schools built in recent years have been provided with the latest educational tools, digital learning platforms and smart teaching techniques, reinforcing the Sultanate of Oman’s vision for a knowledge-driven future.

Dedicating a day to teachers is a symbolic gesture of profound respect and appreciation for their role in nation-building, character development and academic excellence. It underscores the leadership’s commitment to fostering a strong educational foundation that empowers teachers and, in turn, prepares students for the future.
Furthermore, Omani Teachers’ Day serves as an inspiration and motivation for educators, encouraging them to continue their journey of shaping young minds with renewed passion and dedication. By acknowledging their pivotal role, Oman reaffirms its commitment to enhancing the education sector, supporting teachers, and nurturing a generation that will lead the nation towards progress and innovation.
