EA confirms oil spill around North al Batinah, Musandam

Muscat: The Environment Authority (EA) has confirmed an oil spill in some areas of North Al Batinah and Musandam Governorates.


In a statement published on social media, EA said that it has been closely following up on reports received regarding oil pollution that appeared in the marine environment in some areas of North al Batinah and Musandam Governorates.


The statement said the source of the pollution has not yet been determined.


EA said it has taken preventive measures to protect the entrance to the mangrove trees in Shinas, while coordination is currently underway with the relevant authorities to remove pollution and clean the affected beaches in both governorates.
