Muscat: Muscat Municipality has addressed public concerns regarding the suspension of construction work on the al Ghubra Bridge expansion project.

According to the municipality, efforts are underway to resolve the challenges.

In a statement, the municipality clarified that the project falls under the second phase of Oman Avenues Mall’s expansion and is being executed by the project developer. Given its location in the city centre, home to key infrastructure and essential services, the project has encountered unforeseen challenges, which have led to a temporary pause.

Officials explained that some of the work is being carried out outside the Sultanate, contributing to the delay.

The municipality is actively coordinating with the developer to assess viable alternatives that ensure both structural integrity and traffic safety.

“Once an agreement is reached on the most feasible solution, construction will resume accordingly,” the statement added.

Meanwhile, the municipality reaffirmed its commitment to closely monitoring the situation and keeping the public informed about further developments.
