Survey to aid national employment policy begins

Muscat:A survey workshop to aid achieve the set targets of Oman Vision 2040 and to formulate the National Employment Policy, was conducted by the Ministry of Labour to determine the needs of the labour market for private sector establishments at the Crowne Plaza in Madinat Irfan on Thursday.


The workshop, patronised by Dr Mahad bin Saeed Baouin, Minister of Labour, for surveying the needs of the labour market, is the first of its kind in the Sultanate of Oman, implemented by the Ministry under the supervision of the National Center for Statistics and Information (NCSI), and with the assistance of expertise from the International Labour Organisation.


This survey follows scientific methodologies applied globally for such surveys, as the three-dimensional stratified sample methodology was used to ensure representation of the reality of data in the labour market with (3000) establishments.


Speaking to the Observer, Abdullah bin Murad al Malahi, Assistant Director General for Planning Affairs, said that the survey comprises a sample of establishments in the private sector that employ workers for a wage, and many countries conduct such surveys based on the recommendation of the 19th International Labor Organisation Conference on Labour Statistics.
