

Muscat: Abdul Salam Amer Al Mukhaini, a former defender for Oman’s national football team has passed away. He was 36.
Al Mukhaini, known for his prominent role in Omani football, represented the national team and played for clubs including Dhofar, Al-Oruba, Saudi Arabia’s Al-Raed, UAE’s Bani Yas, and Al-Kuwait SC.
His contributions to Omani football have left a lasting impact on the sport in the Sultanate, the football fans and administrators said.
Tributes have poured in from across the football community, highlighting his dedication and skill on the field.
He was selected for the national squad team for the first time in 2010.
He made his first appearance for Oman on January 20, 2010, in a friendly match against Sweden
Oman Football Association offered its condolences in its post on social media.
He has made appearances in the 2011 AFC Asian Cup qualification, the 2014 FIFA World Cup qualification, the 21st Arabian Gulf Cup, and the 2015 AFC Asian Cup qualification.
