The International Nursing Conference, themed 'Advancing Excellence in Nursing: Innovations in Patient Safety and Quality Care,' concluded on Monday at the Crowne Plaza in Qurum. Hosted by Burjeel Holdings, the event brought together healthcare professionals, leaders, and innovators to discuss strategies aimed at enhancing nursing practices and improving patient outcomes.
The conference opened with a welcome address that emphasised the significance of collaboration and innovation in the nursing field. Dr Mohammed al Farsi, Adviser to the Minister of Planning and International Relations at the Minister’s Office, expressed his appreciation for the event, highlighting its importance in the evolution of nursing. He stated, “This conference holds great value in the field of nursing, and I hope it provides important insights for all participants. As a ministry, we are proud to support initiatives like this and remain committed to contributing to such events in the future.”
The conference featured engaging sessions from renowned speakers across Oman and internationally. Key topics included Clinical Documentation and Compliance by Dr Fatma bint Saleh al Dhabbari of Sultan Qaboos University Hospital, Infection Prevention and Control Standards by Alia al Harthy, CEO of Weqaya Academy, Performance Measurement and Quality Improvement by Dr Maryam Tubeileh, Founder & CEO of MT Management, and Medication Safety and Error Prevention by Dr Christopher Xavier of Burjeel Hospital, Al Khuwair.
Attendees explored innovations in patient safety, quality care, and nursing leadership. A key theme throughout the conference was the emphasis on collaboration, with participants engaging in discussions aimed at generating actionable solutions to advance healthcare practices.
Adding a cultural touch, the event featured traditional Omani music and dance, celebrating the rich heritage of the host country. Reflecting on the success of the event, Dr Pankaj Chawla, Regional Director — Operations at Burjeel Holdings, shared his thoughts with the Observer: “This is one of the first international nursing conferences of its kind, focusing on enhancing nursing practices under the Burjeel Holdings banner. We’ve always aimed for excellence, with a strong focus on quality care and patient safety. Today’s conference will foster collaborative ideas to improve patient care safety and bring in more quality parameters.”
He concluded, “The conference was a resounding success, providing a platform for healthcare professionals to exchange knowledge and inspire innovation. It’s our shared commitment to excellence that will shape the future of patient care.”
