ROP arrests suspect in electronic fraud case

Muscat: The Directorate General of Inquiries and Criminal Investigations has arrested an individual of Asian nationality for committing electronic fraud. The suspect was involved in sending suspicious links via SMS to victims' phones, with the intent to collect personal data and withdraw funds from their bank accounts.


Legal procedures are under way. The Royal Oman Police urges the public to remain cautious, advising them to ignore calls and messages from unknown sources and to refrain from sharing their one-time passwords (OTPs) with unverified entities.
