The Public Establishment for Industrial Estates (Madayn) inaugurated the infrastructure project for Samayil Industrial City at a cost exceeding RO 35 million. The project marks a significant milestone in Oman’s efforts to enhance its industrial capacity and diversify its economy in line with Oman Vision 2040.
The inauguration ceremony was presided over by Shaikh Dr Ali bin Masoud al Sunaidy, Chairman of the Public Authority for Special Economic Zones and Free Zones. He emphasised the project’s pivotal role in complementing the government’s initiatives to establish modern industrial cities that cater to diverse sectors.
Al Sunaidy noted that Samayil Industrial City has already succeeded in attracting transformative industries and serves as a strategic extension of Rusayl Industrial City, which is nearing full capacity with investment projects.
Eng Yasser bin Ibrahim al Ajmi, Director-General of Samayil Industrial City, outlined the project’s comprehensive development.
He revealed that the city spans a total developed area of 753 hectares, with 548 hectares allocated to the first phase and 205 hectares to the second.
The city’s design adheres to international standards, incorporating environmental and civil defence requirements, while addressing the social and recreational needs of workers and local residents. The infrastructure includes modern roads, lighting systems, fibre optic networks, water supply systems, and valley protection works.
Key facilities include water and irrigation tanks with advanced pumping stations, a sewage station with a capacity of 3,500 cubic meters per day, and multiple security gates equipped with surveillance cameras. The project also features a service building covering over 16,000 square metres, designed to accommodate market demands and provide support facilities for workers and businesses.
Eng Haitham bin Sulaiman al Aufi, Head of Project Implementation at Madayn, highlighted additional infrastructure elements, such as 1221 lighting poles, 604 fire hydrants, 215 CCTV cameras, and 82,051 square metres of public parking spaces for trucks and taxis.
Streets span 45.78 kilometres, while the irrigation, water, and sewage networks measure 58.04 km, 62.74 km, and 51.62 km, respectively.
Samayil Industrial City has been strategically developed to attract foreign and local investments, create job opportunities, and bolster the industrial sector. The city’s location, near Sultan Turki bin Said Road, offers convenient access to Muscat and other regions, enhancing its appeal to investors.
The industrial city features various sectors, including technical, medical, food, petrochemical, iron, aluminium, wood, marble, and building materials. The entrepreneurs’ sector provides additional support for startups and small businesses.
Furthermore, the city integrates artificial intelligence technology to optimise industrial operations.
An exhibition held on the sidelines of the opening ceremony showcased products from companies operating in Samayil Industrial City.
The exhibits included building materials, food products and metal and plastic industries, reflecting the city’s growing industrial diversity.
Located approximately 60 kilometres southwest of Muscat, Samayil Industrial City is positioned as a vital hub for industrial development. It serves as a strategic extension of Rusayl Industrial City, benefiting from its proximity to major transportation routes and its role in supporting Oman’s broader economic diversification goals.
With its advanced infrastructure and investor-friendly environment, Samayil Industrial City represents a new chapter in Oman’s industrial development, strengthening the nation’s position as a regional leader in industrial innovation.
