The Ministry of Information organised a media meeting on Wednesday titled "Oman and the World," with the participation of media professionals and journalists from various countries. This event was part of the Sultanate of Oman's celebration of His Majesty the Sultan's Accession to the Throne.
The meeting aimed to highlight Oman's efforts in preserving international peace and security, promoting a message of peace on various issues, and showcasing the development in sectors such as heritage, tourism and real estate. Additionally, the meeting discussed the investment opportunities available in Oman and the social protection system in place.
"It is indeed a happy occasion to have all the media representatives from around the globe to understand Oman's journey and the five-year reign of His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik. The journalists have been able to enjoy free conversation with the ministers and decision-makers," said Dr Abdullah bin Nasser al Harrasi, Minister of Information.
The event, organised by the Ministry of Information, introduced the journalists to Oman's features. Three ministers interacted with the international media in the morning. Salim bin Mohammed al Mahrouqi, Minister of Heritage and Tourism, started the session by introducing the tourism potential of Oman. This was followed by Minister of Social Development, Dr Laila bint Ahmed al Najjar, who introduced the social security initiatives that are in place in the country, and Sayyid Badr bin Hamad al Busaidy, Foreign Minister, who explained Oman's foreign policies.
Answering the journalists' questions on regional tensions and scenarios, Sayyid Badr said: "The whole world is currently going through changes. Most countries and populations want peace and stability. We always stress on constructive dialogue, international relations and upholding international law; otherwise, we will be working randomly without order."
In the afternoon, Dr Khalfan bin Said al Shueili, Minister of Housing and Urban Planning, explained the shift that has been made in building the nation, benefiting the nationals and residents.
"Our focus is on social, environmental and economic sustainability. The Oman vision 2040 has the construction plan for the next 20 years with a clear road map. The strategy is approved, documented and is being implemented," he pointed out.
In the late afternoon sessions, the international media was introduced to the Special Economic Zone by CEO Ahmed al Akaak and the final presentation was by Said al Qaraini, Director of Investment, Freezone.
