

MUSCAT: The Oman Automobile Association (OAA) has transformed the winter season in Muscat with the vibrant and dynamic 'Muscat Nights Festival.' This one-of-a-kind event combines culture, sports, and entertainment to create a memorable experience for families and individuals of all ages. Running until January 21, the festival offers a rich blend of performances, interactive activities, and thrilling events. One of the festival's standout features is the central theatre screen, which serves as the heart of the festivities. The theatre hosts an array of captivating performances, including fire displays, bubble shows, and hula hoop acts, alongside traditional Omani cultural showcases. Live musical performances also add a nostalgic touch, highlighting the Sultanate of Oman's deep cultural heritage. Football enthusiasts are in for a treat, as the central theatre also broadcasts live matches featuring Oman’s national team, drawing in large crowds.
The combination of sports and entertainment has made this a favourite spot for visitors. Interactive competitions during match breaks and dedicated activities for men and women add to the event's appeal, fostering a spirit of fun and camaraderie. In an exclusive interview, Hisham bin Bashir al Hinai, producer and host of the 'Muscat Nights Festival' at OAA, shared insights into the event’s planning and execution. “Our vision for ‘Muscat Nights’ is to create an extraordinary experience that caters to diverse preferences. Each day, we kick off with family-friendly performances like bubble displays and hula hoop acts. As the evening progresses, the stage transforms to feature thrilling fire shows, Omani traditional dances, and live music,” he explained.
Al Hinai emphasised the unique atmosphere created by the live football screenings, stating, “The giant screen and energetic crowds amplify the excitement, creating a stadium-like experience. We’ve also added light competitions to engage participants and make every moment enjoyable.” The festival’s schedule runs from 5 pm to 10 pm, with carefully coordinated performances ensuring a seamless and safe environment for visitors. Al Hinai extended a warm invitation to everyone, promising daily surprises and new experiences. “Whether you’re a sports enthusiast, a culture lover, or just looking for family entertainment, ‘Muscat Nights’ offers something for everyone.” Families are a key focus of the festival, with many activities tailored to children.
“Our goal is to leave a positive and joyful impact on every child who visits. From interactive games to enchanting shows, we aim to create lasting memories,” Al Hinai added. Sports enthusiast Salim al Balushi, who visited the festival with family and friends, praised the event’s organisation and vibrant atmosphere. “The giant screen brings matches to life, and the interactive activities during breaks make it even more enjoyable. It’s a perfect blend of sports, culture, and entertainment,” he said. Beyond the theatre, the festival features an impressive lineup of events, including the 'MENA Drift Cup,' 'Fight Arena' championship, karting tournaments and classic car shows. Visitors can also explore the 'African Village' and 'Levant Village,' which offer rich cultural experiences.
