Kuwait City: The Oman national football team will play their second match in the 26th Arabian Gulf Cup against Asian champions Qatar on Tuesday, at Jaber Al Mubarak Stadium at 6:25 pm (Oman Time).
Oman hope to secure their first win in the tournament after drawing their opening match against hosts Kuwait with a goal for each.
Also in the second round of Group A, Kuwait will meet the UAE at 9:30 pm. All teams have one point with an equal number of goals scored and conceded.
This makes Tuesday's match important for all, as the team that manages to collect three points in this round will greatly enhance their chances of qualifying for the semifinals.
Oman head coach Rasheed bin Jaber al Yafei, during a press conference on Monday, stressed the importance of the match against Qatar to enhance the chances of reaching the semifinals.
“The match is very important, as the two teams are coming from a draw," he said, stressing the players' mental presence and focus on the course of the match.
“It is important to make the right decisions in the offensive aspect, noting that our players often reach near the opponent's goal, but scoring depends on the striker's decisions and capabilities.”
“We are doing our best to prepare Salah al Yahyai for the match. He is important to the team and provides additional strength. He is coming from an injury with his Bahraini club,” Jaber said.

“Our team has confidence in reaching the farthest point in the tournament, but when you play the match, you can win while you are in the worst condition, and you can lose after presenting a great level.”
“The match will not decide the qualifying, but it will provide comfort with three points. Mental presence will decide the outcome of the match,” he added.
“We have great confidence in ourselves to achieve victory over Asian champions Qatar," the Oman coach concluded.

Luis Garcia, Qatar coach, confirmed that “We are well prepared to meet the Oman team, the players have completed the recovery process despite the short time.”

“We promise our fans diligence and the importance of preparing the players well, indicating that the Oman match will be strong, as they will attack us through quick counterattacks, but we will be ready to confront them,” he concluded.
Salim bin Said al Wahaibi, Chairman of the Oman Football Association, was in Kuwait City to cheer the team.
“We are confident in our players' capabilities to achieve a positive result in the 26th Gulf Cup. Our ambitions are high based on the great governmental interest it enjoys and the great public support for the game in the Sultanate of Oman.”
He added: “The Oman Football Association is working hard and our priority is to meet the aspirations of the Omani fans who are passionate about football, and we have achieved many strategic goals at the competitive, technical, and administrative levels.”
