Muscat: The Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) has announced the licensing of the "Serb" platform, designed to register and manage drone air traffic across Oman.

The initiative aligns with the aspirations of the youth and reinforces safety measures for air navigation, individuals, property, and the environment.

The platform is set to officially launch on January 28, 2025, and will be accessible to the public starting that evening.

The CAA has called on all drone operators, particularly those flying for recreational purposes, to register their drones through the platform.

Proper registration will grant users authorization to operate drones within designated "safe green zones" agreed upon by the CAA, military, and security bodies.

In a statement, the authority emphasised the importance of adhering to established guidelines and regulations to ensure safe and responsible drone operations.

Violators will face strict legal accountability, as no leniency will be granted once the platform becomes operational.

This initiative underscores the CAA's commitment to fostering innovation while maintaining high safety standards for Oman’s airspace.
