Oman, Belarus issue joint statement

Muscat: The Sultanate of Oman and the Republic of Belarus issued a joint statement following the visit of Alexander Lukashenko, President of Belarus, to the Sultanate of Oman.


Both sides expressed determination to work together to achieve shared goals and con-ducting relations based on mutual respect and understanding.


The agreement has been signed to develop the partnership in the areas of clean energy, tourism, education, healthcare, technology, transport, and logistics, apart from welcoming cooperation in industries and joint projects for machinery assembly in Oman, with emphasis on cooperation in agriculture and food security, and welcoming the successful negotiations at the Oman AgroFood 2024 exhibition.


Both sides will also support joint projects on infant formula and dairy products and Explore the feasibility of establishing a joint committee between Oman and Belarus to support joint initiatives.


The statement welcomed the visa exemption for Belarusian citizens to enter the Sultanate of Oman for up to 14 days, along with discussions on the possibility of launching direct flights and a mutual visa exemption agreement.


Exchanging views on regional and international issues, reaffirming respect for international law and the United Nations Charter, and emphasizing the importance of cooperation within international organizations to deliver peace and security.


Holding meetings to discuss enhancing trade investment and cooperation in addressing global challenges such as food security.


The President of Belarus expressed gratitude to Oman for the warm welcome and hospitality and extended an invitation to His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik to visit the Republic of Belarus.
