Muscat: SNF, a leading provider of integrated solutions for chemical enhanced oil recovery (EOR), which received approval to set up a polymer production project in Oman recently, will commence production by first quarter of 2025, according to the management.

Strategically located in Salalah close to the Port of Salalah, the SNF, which recently announced an ambitious $250 million expansion plan in Oman, possesses over 20 years of in-country presence in the Sultanate of Oman, underlines this project as a testament to the company's focus on sustainability, innovation, and in-country value.

"We are glad to announce our production of polymer from Oman will begin during the first quarter of 2025 and our initiative is underlined by the fact that Oman is emerging as a key player in the Middle East polymer market. Thanks to the Public Establishment for Industrial Estates (Madayn) which has been very supportive to setting up the plant," said Jimmy Nesbitt, General Manager of SNF Oman, at a press conference in Muscat on Thursday.

Hamza al Tubi, SNF Oman, representative of the key management said that the facility, designed to produce high-performance anionic polymers, will play a key role in enhancing chemical EOR capabilities and meeting the fast-growing needs of regional clients.

"Employment for local workforce has been out key factor of production and we will be generating more such positions for the Omani labour force thus generating in-country value, and establish Oman as a key player in the Middle East polymer market," he added.

Additionally, the Regional SNF Technical Centre (RSTC Oman) set up in Muscat will be functioning as a training centre as well as a R&D centre which will help generate better, skilled labour and strategize for future market challenges simultaneously.
