NEW DELHI: The Strategic Consultation Team between the Sultanate of Oman and the Republic of India held its 13th meeting in the Indian capital, New Delhi, on Tuesday.


The Sultanate of Oman was represented by Shaikh Khalifa bin Ali al Harthy, Under-Secretary of the Foreign Ministry for Diplomatic Affairs, while the Indian side was represented by Arun Kumar Chatterjee, Under-secretary of the Indian Ministry of External Affairs for Consular Affairs.


The meeting discussed ways to foster bilateral cooperation in the economic fields, trade and investment exchanges, culture and education as well as the arrangements for celebrating the 70th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries in 2025 and organizing the Indian Ocean Conference in Muscat in February 2025.



On the sidelines of the meeting, Shaikh Khalifa bin Ali al Harthy met with Dr Subrahmanyam Jaishankar, Indian Minister of External Affairs. The two sides exchanged views on the prospects for future cooperation and regional and international developments.


In a dialogue session on the long-standing Omani-Indian relations, held at the headquarters of the India Research Foundation, Al Harthy praised the strategic partnership between the two countries, stressing the importance of enhancing cooperation in the fields of innovation and sustainable development to serve common interests, pointing to a number of regional and international issues and the position of the Sultanate of Oman towards them.



The meetings were attended by Shaikh Ahmed bin Hashel al Maskari, Head of the Department of the Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf and the Regional Neighborhood, Issa bin Saleh al Shaibani, Ambassador of the Sultanate of Oman to the Republic of India and a number of officials from both sides. — ONA
