MUSCAT: Oman Olympic Committee’s Executive Office held its third meeting for this year on Tuesday, the meeting was headed by Khalid bin Mohammed al Zubair, Chairman of the Oman Olympic Committee(OOC).
The office reviewed several topics and approved the Oman mission that will take part in the Paris 2024 Olympic Games which will be held between July 26 and August 11. The attendees reviewed the list of teams that expressed their desire to participate in the 6th Asian Indoor Games slated to be held in Thailand during November 21-30.
The meeting reviewed a statement of the allocations and financial and logistical requirements for the external participations that fall under the umbrella of Oman Olympic Committee this year. This included the first Gulf Youth Games which was held in the United Arab Emirates in April, the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, and the Asian Indoor Games in Thailand.
Also discussed at the meeting was the latest developments regarding the Sultanate of Oman’s hosting of the third Gulf Beach Games which will be held next year with the participation of all Olympic committees in the GCC countries.
The meeting also discussed the preparations for holding the Oman Olympic Committee’s general-assembly and the elections for the 2025-2028 term and reviewed the procedures required in this regard. It was agreed to refer the matter to the next Board of Directors meeting for approval. The meeting discussed activating the Olympic Museum of the Oman Olympic Committee and the most important steps that should be taken to implement it in line with the vision and objectives of the committee.
In addition, the members reviewed the invitations received by the Oman Olympic Committee including an invitation to attend the 44th General Assembly of the Olympic Council of Asia which will be held in Delhi, India on September 8, and the regular meeting of the Association of National Olympic Committees (ANOC) which will be held in Portugal from October 29 to November 1.
