MUSCAT: The Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry (OCCI), represented by its Food Security Committee, will host a symposium on Monday, December 2, focusing on the current realities, challenges, and opportunities within the food security sector. The event is set to take place on the sidelines of the "AgriOman" exhibition at the Oman Convention and Exhibition Centre (OCEC).

The symposium will feature several visual presentations and discussion panels led by both local and international experts in food security. It aims to facilitate knowledge exchange, explore innovative solutions, and address key issues affecting the sector.

Central to the discussions will be the role of usufruct contracts in bolstering the food security landscape in Oman. The event will also shed light on successful company experiences in purchasing agricultural products directly from local farmers and leveraging technology and innovation to enhance food security. Moreover, the symposium will explore strategies to improve agricultural, livestock, and fisheries production while examining the financing procedures available for food security projects in the Sultanate of Oman.

Another critical topic on the agenda is the impact of climate change on food security and the necessity of building sustainable and resilient systems to address these challenges. — ONA
