This unique initiative, organised by the Office of the Governor of North Al Batinah, aims to unite people through a colourful celebration of multiculturalism. From dazzling performances to delicious international cuisine, Expat Day is a dynamic showcase of culture that offers something for everyone. Dr. Abdulrahman Al-Qasmi, head of the Events Committee for the Suhar Festival, expressed his enthusiasm for this special edition. “The Weekly Expat Day is more than just an event; it’s a bridge connecting communities. It reflects our commitment to cultural exchange, providing a space where people can come together to learn, share, and celebrate their differences.”

The festivities kicked off last Saturday, promising an unforgettable experience. Visitors can expect a packed programme filled with interactive cultural displays, traditional music, and dance performances from across the globe. Art enthusiasts will be treated to exhibitions featuring crafts and design unique to various cultures. At the same time, food lovers can indulge in a global culinary adventure, sampling flavours from Asia, Africa, Europe, and beyond.

One of the most exciting aspects of Expat Day is its interactive workshops, where attendees can immerse themselves in learning different crafts, dances, and traditions. These remarkable experiences create meaningful connections and offer a deeper understanding of the diverse communities that enrich Oman’s social fabric.

The Suhar Festival, already renowned for its lively atmosphere and family-friendly appeal, runs for 45 days and offers an impressive variety of activities. In addition to Expat Day, visitors can enjoy live music, children’s games, traditional Omani art, and a bustling market filled with unique goods. The festival attracts thousands of attendees each year, and this year’s edition of Expat Day is expected to draw even larger crowds.

Organisers are targeting families, culture enthusiasts, and anyone curious about Omani civilisation. Whether you’re an Omani eager to explore global traditions or an expatriate looking to celebrate your roots, the Weekly Expat Day offers a welcoming space for everyone.

Dr Al-Qasmi encapsulated the festival’s spirit, stating: “This festival is not just about entertainment; it’s about unity. Through events like Expat Day, we celebrate what makes us unique while fostering a sense of togetherness. It’s a festival for the people, by the people.”
