SALALAH: In an awe-inspiring feat of perseverance and determination, Ishwar Deshmukh, Senior Physical Education Teacher at Indian School Salalah (ISS), has accomplished the remarkable 54 km wellness walk from Salalah to Mughsail to commemorate the 54th National Day of the Sultanate of Oman.

The event, which commenced on November 20 at the crack of dawn at 4 am from Life Line Hospital, was completed in an impressive time of 8 hours 8 minutes and 9 seconds. This achievement marks Deshmukh as the first expatriate in Salalah to complete such a challenging distance in under 9 hours, setting a new benchmark for endurance in the region. The Indian School Salalah school management and staff congratulated Ishwar for the feat.

The walkathon, a first-of-its-kind event in Salalah, was meticulously organised with collaboration among Future Academy Sports, Life Line Hospital and Media One. With participants from all walks of life, it was a celebration of wellness and stamina.

Notably, Deshmukh was not only the first to begin the journey but also the first to cross the finish line, further highlighting his exceptional resolve. His commitment and determination during the walk are a source of pride for the residents of Salalah.

Earlier this year, in February, Deshmukh had successfully completed another remarkable walk, this time covering a 28.02 km stretch to Taqah in a time of 3:54:57. His ability to conquer these physically demanding challenges demonstrates an unwavering commitment to fitness and an indomitable will.
