Muscat: The 'Fourth International Conference on Communication and Media: Artificial Intelligence Revolution – Present and Future' started in the Sultanate of Oman on Sunday, offering a platform for researchers, academics, and specialists to discuss and exchange knowledge, expertise, and Arab and international experiences in the applications of artificial intelligence in the field of communications and media.


This event, organized by Sultan Qaboos University, highlighted its leading role in fostering dialogue on artificial intelligence applications in the media field. It bridges academic research with practical applications, supporting the advancement of the media and communication sector in the age of artificial intelligence.


Over 70 speakers and researchers taking part in the conference will present more than 60 research papers on philosophical and conceptual frameworks for the use of artificial intelligence in communication and media, artificial intelligence in communication and media industries at the Arab and global levels, challenges and issues in communication and media amidst the rise of artificial intelligence, educational and training programs in communication and the future of the media industry in the era of the artificial intelligence revolution.


The conference will include a competition in collaboration with the AI Journalism Research and Forecasting Foundation (AIJRF) titled “Gen AI Youth: The AI Content Creators Challenge.” The initiative aims to enhance AI skills among students of Sultan Qaboos University and journalists from Omani media institutions, with the participation of more than 50 trainees.
