MUSCAT: Oman’s electricity production totalled 29,127.6 gigawatt-hours by the end of August 2024, a 3.9 per cent decline from 30,298.3 gigawatt-hours during the same period in 2023, as reported by the National Centre for Statistics and Information (NCSI). The governorates of Al Batinah North, Al Batinah South, and Al Dhahirah recorded a combined output of 16,811.7 gigawatt-hours, down by 11.9 per cent.


However, Muscat Governorate and Dhofar Governorate saw growth, with production rising by 6.7 per cent to 368.1 gigawatt-hours and by 15.5 per cent to 3,943.2 gigawatt-hours, respectively. In contrast, Al Wusta Governorate experienced a 25.8 per cent decrease, producing 113.5 gigawatt-hours.


Meanwhile, total water production reached 346.569 million cubic meters by August, showing a slight dip from the same period last year. — ONA
