Oman, Iraq review ties, means of augmenting them

MUSCAT: HH Sayyid Shihab bin Tarik al Said, Deputy Prime Minister for Defence Affairs, received in his office at Muaskar Al Murtafaa Dr Fuad Hussein, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Iraq.


During the meeting, the two sides reviewed bilateral relations and means of augmenting them. They also discussed several matters of mutual interest. The meeting was attended by the ambassador of the Republic of Iran to the Sultanate of Oman.


Meanwhile, Gen Sultan bin Mohammed al Numani, Minister of the Royal Office, received Dr Fuad Hussein, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Iraq.

During the meeting, the two sides reviewed matters of mutual interest. They also explored means of enhancing mutual cooperation to serve joint interests. The meeting was attended by the Ambassador of the Republic of Iraq.


The Sultanate of Oman and the Republic of Iraq underline the historic relations binding the two countries and their peoples. This came during a session of political talks, held in Muscat on Monday.


The Omani side was headed by Sayyid Badr bin Hamad al Busaidy, Foreign Minister, while the Iraqi side was headed by Dr Fuad Hussein, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Iraq.

The two ministers highlighted areas of mutual cooperation in various political, economic, trade and cultural fields, and means of enhancing them to serve joint interests. They also reviewed developments of regional and international issues of mutual interest.


At the forefront of these issues is the brutal Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip and the escalating situation in the region as a result of this aggression. – ONA
