4 arrested for jewellery shop theft

Muscat: The police in Muscat Governorate have arrested four Asian expatriates for stealing gold jewelry from a shop in the Wilayat of Amerat.


Legal procedures are being completed against them.


It may be recalled that last month, the police arrested eight people of Arab and Asian nationalities for stealing large quantities of gold jewelry from a gold shop in the Ruwi area.


The ROP advised owners of shops and private institutions to implement safety and security standards in their establishments to reduce theft crimes.


Gold traders in the Sultanate of Oman have been witnessing a significant drop in sales due to the high gold prices since the beginning of the year, leading to a noticeable decrease in retail sales.


The increase in prices has been attributed to geopolitical and financial factors,
