

MUSCAT: Businesses from a cross-section of the society who are members of the Business Network International (BNI), world’s largest business referral organization, announced on Saturday that it has generated RO 2.1 million business for its members through networking and referrals last year.
This indicates that each member of the global organisation which has nearly 37 members in Oman, was able to close, on an average basis, at least RO 57,000 worth business. On the other hand, some of the members reported closing deals worth more than RO 100,000 in single referrals, according to Khadija Safana, and Saleem Althaf, National Directors of the largest business networking platform.
Speaking to the Observer on the sidelines of the 1st anniversary celebrations of the broad commercial and investment meeting of the ‘BNI Salaam’ commercial platform in Muscat and attended by members and representatives of Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion (MoCIIP), other government agencies as well as representatives of commercial organisations and media at the Crowne Plaza Hotel, Khadija said that the day-long event covered many areas related to doing business in Oman as well as provided platform for commercial networking, analysed future prospects and the mechanism for owners of SMEs.
“BNI, with the fruitful networking operations in the country, which is the 77th country where it has its direct representation, we were able to generate RO 21 million deal for our members in just one year. Besides the average of RO 57,000 for each member, some of the members have crossed RO 100,000 worth businesses from both local and global liaising,” she said.
Worldwide, BNI has 300,000 members spread over nearly 11,000 chapters and 13.1 million member referrals resulting in member generated business to the tune of $21.8b, members of the BNI Salaam in Oman said the platform has been highly beneficial to their businesses, and both SMEs and other entities had the opportunity to engage with its services to increase their businesses and grow their customer base using the modernised business networking opportunities.
