Muscat: Search is still ongoing for two fishermen missing at sea since Tuesday.

The fate of Salem al Hadi and Yaqoub al Busaidi from the Wilayat of Bausher is unknown since they set off on a fishing trip from Al Qurum last Tuesday. After intensive searches by the concerned authorities and fellow fishermen, their fishing boat was found at sea off the Wilayat of Saham while the fishing nets were found in Al Sawadi in the Wilayat of Barkah.

Ibrahim bin Khalfan al Hadi, a relative of one of the missing fishermen, said: “ They left Al Qurum beach on Tuesday evening. They usually spend the night at sea and return back the next morning. When they didn’t come back until twelve o’clock noon, we began to be concerned about their safety and it was impossible to get in touch with them. We informed the concerned authorities who immediately initiated a search and rescue operation alongside their fellow fishermen.

The search operation carried out by the military, security and civil authorities for the missing fishermen is still underway.
