Muscat: A child has died after a vehicle carrying five people was swept away in the Wadi Andam on the Izki-Sinaw road, the Royal Oman Police reported on Tuesday.

According to the ROP, four people were rescued and transported to Ibra Referral Hospital. This came following a heavy downpour that lashed various wilayats of the Sultanate of Oman due to a low pressure currently impacting the Sultanate’s atmosphere.

In a separate incident, ROP said in an online statement it had successfully airlifted two people to a safer place after they were trapped in Wadi Bani Henai.

Meanwhile, the competent authority reiterated the importance of avoiding crossing wadis during rainfall and flash floods, urging parents to stay vigilant and oversee their children during such weather conditions.
