

MUSCAT: The Digital Cooperation Organization’s (DCO) Secretariat General has called for urgent discussions with Member States and digital economy experts to address the wide-reaching implications of a recent global IT outage that disrupted critical operations worldwide, affecting sectors such as airlines, banks, broadcasters, and software providers.
The DCO Secretariat General stated, "The significant impact observed globally due to this unfortunate outage is alarming and underscores the urgent need for more effective and agile international digital cooperation." The incident has raised serious questions about continuity and sustainability in an increasingly digital world. It is imperative for the international community to develop robust policies and protocols to mitigate the risks of such disruptions and ensure the continuity of essential operations.
In response, the DCO Secretariat General has called for immediate deliberations among its Member States and digital economy experts to "capture the lessons learned from this incident, assess its impact on national digital transformation plans in Member States, and plan practical steps to ensure that relevant stakeholders across sectors are aligned and prepared to handle such crises."
