

MUSCAT: Al Khuwair Dermatology Centre at the Directorate-General of Health Services in Muscat Governorate, in cooperation with the Oman Dermatology Society (ODS), organised the first Muscat Dermatology Forum at the Movenpick Hotel Muscat, on Saturday.
Sulaiman bin Nasser al Haji, Under-Secretary of the Health Ministry for Administrative and Financial Affairs, presided over the opening of the forum in the presence of many officials from the Ministry of Health and specialists from health care centres.
The forum discussed many topics related to dermatology that doctors encounter in health centres, training on how to reach the correct diagnosis early and opt for the appropriate treatment for skin diseases such as atopic eczema, psoriasis, acne or acne vulgaris, urticaria, vitiligo, bacterial and fungal skin infections, venereal diseases and skin emergencies.
The forum provides an opportunity for participants to learn about recent research and scientific developments thus contributing to a better understanding of skin diseases and their treatment methods and to the correct and early diagnosis.
Dr Aisha bint Abdullah al Ali, Consultant Dermatologist and Head of Al Khuwair Dermatology Centre, said that the forums aims at exchanging knowledge and expertise and providing continuous education and training to improve the quality of healthcare provided to skin diseases patients and comping with the international standards in patient care and safety in terms of early access to the correct diagnosis and choosing appropriate treatment for each case.
Dermatology is one of the vital medical specialties that require continuous updates about developments in the field and in-depth knowledge of the diagnosis and treatment of skin diseases. The forum will be addressed by 22 experts and doctors working for primary healthcare centres from inside and outside the Sultanate of Oman.
The forum is accompanied by an exhibition that showcases therapeutic and cosmetic products and modern medical devices used in the treatment of skin diseases, she said. — ONA
