Meeting discusses steps to boost access to public health services

MUSCAT: Dr Hilal bin Ali al Sabti, Minister of Health, and governors from around Oman on Thursday held a consultative meeting to discuss cooperation and coordination about the best means to serve the public interest. The two sides considered means to unify efforts and ease local communities’ access to basic needs, including health services, in accordance with international standards.


The meeting also touched on the ministry’s efforts to develop the health sector in various governorates, enhance integration among the governorates and study opportunities and available resources to achieve sustainable development in the health sector.


The meeting included two sessions. During the first session, titled 'Future Aspirations and Opportunities', the Health Minister gave a lecture on the ministry’s strategic approaches.


The second session, themed “Sustainable health development, investment and partnership”, included presentations by three officials from the Ministry of Health. Dr Said bin Harib al Lamki, Under-Secretary for Health Affairs, spoke about 'Measures for the development of health services in the governorates: The reality and aspirations'.


Meanwhile, Dr Ahmed bin Salim al Mandhari, Under-Secretary for Planning and Health Organisation, outlined the ministry’s role in health planning and related challenges and opportunities.


For his part, Sulaiman bin Nasser al Hiji, Under-Secretary for Administrative and Financial Affairs, gave a presentation on the role of the Ministry of Health in providing financial and human resources and securing their sustainability. - ONA
