

KHASAB: Work on the integrated housing plan project in Khuwair area located in the village of Kumzar is in full swing. The project comes in as implementation of the Royal orders.
The Ministry of Housing and Urban Planning has completed the mountain-coastal road project connecting the integrated housing scheme in the Khuwair area to the village of Kumzar.
The ministry is also working on the final phases of the project and has embarked upon the construction of 20 housing units for eligible people from the village of Kumzar. The first phase of the housing scheme accommodates 150 residential plots in addition to 3 investment sites proposed by the Musandam Governor’s Office, 14 industrial plots, a government school, a health centre, a public council and a mosque.
The project also involves the construction of a sewage treatment plant, a water desalination plant and 11 sites designated for electrical transformers and public parking.
Eng Ali al Maashani, Director-General of Housing and Urban Planning in Musandam Governorate, said that Musandam Governorate has seen many development projects including the village of Kumzar.
During the Royal visit to Musandam Governorate, Royal orders were issued to implement the first phase of housing units as part of the integrated housing scheme in Khuwair area in Kumzar with a total of 20 housing units complete with the basic services.
This project was launched last month at a cost exceeding RO 1.5 million with an implementation rate now standing at 4 per cent. An agreement was reached with the Ministry of Education to establish a government school and another one with the Ministry of Health to establish a health centre.
Ahmed bin Mohammed al Kumzari, Deputy Chairman of the Municipal Council of Musandam Governorate, representing the Wilayat of Khasab, said that 90 per cent of Mahas Industrial City alongside the road and infrastructure have been completed at a cost of RO 5 million with investment volume in Mahas Industrial City crossing RO 41.9 million during the first half of this year, a 2.05-per cent increase compared to the same period of last year.
Mubarak al Ghailani, Acting Director-General of Mahas Industrial City, said: “Within the framework of the Royal interest of His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik and his directives to enhance socio-economic projects and support owners of small and medium enterprises and entrepreneurs in Musandam Governorate, His Majesty, during his visit to Musandam Governorate this year, gave his directives to establish 10 ready-made industrial units for small and medium enterprises at Mahas Industrial City.
The Public Establishment for Industrial Estates (Madayn) has embarked upon the implementation of the industrial units immediately after the issuance of the Royal directives with the appointment of a consultant. The preparation of studies and plans is currently underway.
