MANAH: The fifth summer session of the 2023-2024 academic year commenced on Monday at the Sultan Qaboos Institute for Teaching Arabic to Non-Native Speakers in Manah, Al Dakhiliyah Governorate.

This course has attracted 52 students from various institutions, including the Sultan Qaboos Centre for Culture in Washington, the Omani-British Friendship Society, the Republic of Hungary, the Republic of the Comoros, South Korea, Japan and France.

The introductory programme for the students included meetings with the teaching and administrative staff, as well as the supervisors of the cultural programme.

An introductory tour of the institute’s facilities showcased the services available to students, followed by a detailed visual presentation about Oman’s rich civilisation, culture and people.

The presentation highlighted the elements that make Oman a prime destination for learning the Arabic language and provided general guidelines and tips for the students to integrate and communicate effectively with the local community through trips, visits and various events.

During this seven-week course, students will immerse themselves in studying the Arabic language and its various skills. The programme also includes numerous lectures, cultural evenings, educational trips to historical and natural sites, Arabic calligraphy lessons, art workshops and a language partner programme.

Affiliated with the Sultan Qaboos Higher Centre for Culture and Science at the Diwan of Royal Court, the Sultan Qaboos Institute for Teaching Arabic to Non-Native Speakers is a renowned cultural institution.

The centre offers an accessible pathway to learning Arabic, taught by highly qualified Omani teachers. The institute serves as a bridge for cultural and civilisational exchange between the Omani people and the world, promoting Omani culture and heritage globally. — ONA
