Muscat: The Royal Oman Police (ROP) has introduced a new initiative permitting private establishments to offer vehicle technical inspection services. This decision, announced by Lt. Gen. Hassan Mohsin al Shraiqi, General Inspector of Police and Customs, aims to regulate the service provision.

According to the directive, the authorized private establishments must be fully owned by Omanis and meet specified approvals and requirements from the competent authority. These facilities must also be located in designated areas.

The initiative outlines specific qualifications for technical inspectors: they must be Omani citizens holding a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering from a recognized higher education institution, be physically fit, and have completed a technical inspection course.

The objective of this initiative is to engage private establishments in delivering these services across various wilayats of the Sultanate of Oman. The initiative will help generate employment opportunities for Omani youth and enhance its dissemination nationwide. The service will be available at different times and locations according to the decison.
