MUSCAT: The National University of Science and Technology, through its College of Pharmacy, celebrated the graduation of 42 male and female students in a white coat ceremony held at the Sheraton Oman Hotel. The event was graced by Dr Ahmed Salim Saif Al Mandhari, Under-Secretary of the Ministry of Health for Planning and Health Organisation.


Dr Khalid bin Ahmed Al Balushi, Dean of the College of Pharmacy, emphasized the significance of the white coat, symbolising the professionalism of pharmacists. He noted that this ceremony marks the beginning of the students' journey into medical professionalism and their role in serving the community.

In his address, Dr Al Balushi highlighted that wearing the white coat and taking the pharmacy oath is a purposeful tradition, indicating the student’s transition to the clinical years of their pharmacy program. This tradition underscores the importance of providing clinical service and patient care, foundational pillars of the pharmacy profession. He urged the students to persevere, emphasizing the importance of training, hard work, patience, and striving for excellence. Dr Al Balushi also mentioned that the College of Pharmacy has enhanced its training connections both within and outside the Sultanate of Oman.


Dr Nidaa Wadi, pharmacist Halima Al Zadjali, and Dr Abdul Salam Nazmi conducted the white coat ceremony for the graduates. The event also included the honoring of outstanding students and those on the Dean’s List, as well as recognizing the ceremony’s sponsors and various training institutions. A souvenir was presented to the ceremony’s patron.


The ceremony was attended by Dr Ali bin Masoud Al Bimani, Member of the State Council and President of the National University, Dr Salem bin Khamis Al Arimi, Vice President of the University for Academic Affairs and Scientific Research, several health officials, and the student's parents. - ONA
