MUSCAT: The Children's Museum at the Muscat International Book Fair serves as a pioneering example in instilling cultural values among children and youth through interactive activities.
The Cultural Identity and Virtual Reality corner featured three documentaries about Oman's intangible heritage. Additionally, educational games allowed children to experience traditional attire, folk arts, and cultural landmarks of Oman through virtual reality.
Khadeeja Al Kalbani, general supervisor of activities at the Child's Museum in Muscat, said, “ We aim at introducing Omani culture and heritage for children in order to cultivate such values and preserve them for future generations. In the book fair, we present an interactive experience for children to explore our heritage and customs.”
Integrating artificial intelligence and education not only enhances learning experiences but also fosters a deeper connection with cultural heritage.
Parents are positively impressed by their children's engagement and excitement while participating in the Cultural Identity and Virtual Reality corners. They value the educational enrichment provided by the interactive activities.
F Al Jassasi, a mother of two girls from Al Dhahirah, said : “ I have never thought before that such digital experiences can be used to cultivate the cultural values in such an interesting way. Thanks to them, new opportunities to use technologies in a positive way have been created.”
By using interactive technologies to foster and emphasize the heritage and values, we empower our youth to embrace their roots, save the rich tapestry of Omani culture and ensure its preservation for generations to come.
