Muscat Municipal Council debates Muttrah waterfront development project

Muscat: The Municipal Council of Muscat Governorate held its sixth meeting for this year, on Wednesday.


The council approved the minutes of the previous meeting and reviewed recommendations it had received regarding the statement of Omran Group which is undertaking the redevelopment of the waterfront of Port Sultan Qaboos in the Wilayat of Muttrah.


The Muscat Municipal Council meeting presided over by Sayyid Saud bin Hilal al Busaidy, Governor of Muscat and Chairman of the Municipal Council, reviewed recommendations provided by the Social Affairs Committee regarding the begging phenomenon which has recently taken new forms and methods most notably selling for the purpose of begging. The council suggested a set of solutions and procedures to address this negative phenomenon in cooperation with the relevant authorities.


The council reviewed the outcomes of the recommendations of the Health and Environmental Affairs Committee for the inspection and control of restaurants at private hospitals and schools to improve the nutrition system in line with the health standards. It also reviewed ways to facilitate control and inspection processes of food outlets and food suppliers to ensure their abidance by the safety and quality of food.


The Council discussed a set of letters received from government authorities on health and social issues and service requirements that fall within the scope of the municipal work. — ONA
