Muscat. Certain categories of Bangladeshi nationals have been exempted from the visa ban imposed on Bangladesh nationals, Oman's embassy in Dhaka said in a statement.
The exempted categories are family visas, visit visas for citizens of Bangladesh residing in GCC countries, physicians, engineers, nurses, teachers, accountants, investors, all types of official visas, and high-income tourists.
The Embassy in Dhaka will receive and process all applications from applicants belonging to the above-mentioned categories and will coordinate duly with the Royal Oman Police (ROP) to issue the visa, the statement said.
All applications must be submitted with documentation duly attested to verify the eligibility of the applicant for the requested visa. Processing of applications will take one to four weeks depending on the particulars of each application.
The Embassy said it seeks to reassure all concerned with the ban on work visas that many steps have been taken by authorities and officials in Oman and Bangladesh to pave the way towards lifting the ban on work visas as soon as practicable.
"The ban was undertaken purely for technical reasons about the regular and ongoing review process of the foreign Labor market in Oman. Oman and Bangladesh enjoy excellent bilateral relations that are constantly growing and expanding in many fields under the wise and enlightened leadership of both the Bangladeshi and Omani governments respectively. "
It may be noted that the Royal Oman Police announced the suspension of the conversion of all types of tourist and visit visas to work visas for all nationalities coming to the Sultanate of Oman, as well as the issuance of all types of new visas for Bangladeshi citizens from October 31, 2023.
