Muscat: The Sultanate of Oman welcomed the initiative made by President Joe Biden of the United States of America (USA), to apply a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip. The initiative was concluded in cooperation and coordination with the State of Qatar and the Arab Republic of Egypt.

In a statement issued by the Foreign Ministry on Sunday, Oman affirmed its support for all efforts to terminate the Israeli aggression and the suffering faced by the Palestinian people. Oman called on all parties to deal positively with such initiatives in a manner that preserves the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people and their aspirations and alleviates their suffering.

Oman hoped that this move would lead to an end to the Israel’s aggression and full withdrawal of Israeli forces from the Gaza Strip, pave the way for the reconstruction of the Gaza Strip and the restoration of normalcy in the strip.

Oman also hoped that the initiative would be a step forward in enabling the Palestinian people to regain their legitimate rights and establish their independent state with Al Quds Al Sharqiyah (East Jerusalem) as its capital.
