The Sultanate of Oman organised the Arab Creative Women Forum in its third edition, coinciding with the selection of Muscat as the Capital of Arab Women for the year 2024, towards creativity and innovation, and getting to know distinguished Arab women in the Arab world.
The opening of the forum was under the auspices of Dr Rahma bint Ibrahim al Mahrouqiyah, Minister of Higher Education, Research and Innovation, in the presence of Dr Laila bint Ahmed al Najar, Minister of Social Development, and the participation of a number of Arab women figures.
Maani bint Abdullah al Busaidiyah, General-Director of Family Development at the Ministry of Social Development, said in the ministry’s speech that the Sultanate of Oman has been keen to activate the role of women in society and support them to achieve achievements in various development fields. "Oman has strengthened national policies, plans and programmes to reach a conscious, cohesive society that is socially and economically empowered,” she said.
She added that adopting creativity and innovation and investing efforts and resources in promoting creative thinking in digital technologies, artificial intelligence and Fourth Industrial Revolution technology is the way to achieve sustainable progress and improve the quality of life for individuals and societies, and this is what this forum seeks to achieve.
Wadha al Alawi, Director of the Women's Affairs Department at the Ministry of Social Development, said: “The Ministry of Social Development hosted the third Arab Creative Women Forum, with the aim of highlighting the vision of the Sultanate of Oman through its important renaissance path, learning about its achievements, and attracting the world’s attention to the Sultanate of Oman, which is distinguished by the intense participation of Omani women at the national, regional and international levels, and getting to know distinguished women in the Arab world through exchanging experiences and best practices."
During its two dialogue sessions, the forum witnessed the presentation of a number of working papers on the 'Creativity and Innovation' axes that included three working papers. The first paper was entitled 'Arab Women’s Contributions to Creativity' through her occupying leadership positions in the fields of technology, science, and entrepreneurship.
The second working paper entitled 'The Role of Women in the Future of Human Creativity with Advances in the Field of Artificial Intelligence' focused on women’s interaction with the fields of artificial intelligence, and its impact and contribution in directing technological innovation towards social and ethical issues. Women contribute to shaping the future of human creativity further through their contribution to the development of artificial intelligence applications that vary in the fields of health, education, and economics.
The third working paper, 'Women in Creativity and Culture', highlighted the role of Arab women in the field of creativity and culture through their contribution to literature, arts, and sciences, and highlighted the success stories of many female writers, artists, and intellectuals in enriching the Arab cultural heritage.
