Geneva: The draft Global Initiative for Health and Peace, jointly presented by the Sultanate of Oman and Switzerland, was ratified at the conclusion of the 154th session of the Executive Board of the World Health Organization (WHO).

The Sultanate of Oman’s delegation was headed by Dr Hilal bin Ali al Sabti, Minister of Health.

The ratification of the Global Health for Peace Initiative is the fruit of five years of serious work and is considered as an achievement for the Sultanate of Oman which endeavours to consolidate its approach for achieving peace among the world’s countries.

The initiative seeks to strengthen and activate the link between health, social cohesion and peace by focusing on the important role the public health programmes play in bringing together different groups and building confidence. It also contributes to enhancing resilience and confidence at the level of local communities, populations and governments.
