MUSCAT: In commemoration of World Innovation Day, the Omani Chapter of the Global Innovation Institute was launched in Muscat recently.
This initiative aspires to disseminate knowledge about innovative tools and methodologies among local communities and specialists, while also striving to bolster the cadre of professionals in the innovation realm within the Sultanate of Oman. The chapter's overarching objective encompasses the activation of a robust innovation ecosystem, intricately aligned with the objectives and priorities outlined in Oman Vision 2040.
Foremost among its aims is to serve for dialogue on pertinent issues within Oman's innovation landscape, resonating with the nation's long-term development vision. The chapter envisions fostering a culture of innovation across institutions and individuals alike within Oman.
At an event held to mark World Innovation Day, Shaikh Aiman al Hosni, CEO of Oman Airports and Chairman of the Global Airports Council, contributed to a panel discussion titled, "The Importance of Innovation in Institutions: Airports as a Model." This discourse delved into the foundational requisites for igniting innovation within institutions, while also addressing the attendant challenges and elucidating strategies employed by Oman Airports to surmount these hurdles.
Central to the event was the call for engagement extended to enthusiasts of innovation, inviting them to enroll as members of the Omani Chapter of the Global Innovation Institute. Renowned for its global eminence, the Institute, headquartered in the United States, is steadfast in its commitment to augmenting individual capacities and driving institutional excellence through enhanced innovation prowess. Its repertoire of offerings includes professional certifications, accreditations, and memberships, all underpinned by cutting-edge methodologies and industry trends in innovation leadership.
Of late, the establishment of the Middle East and North Africa Center of the Global Innovation Institute has further expanded accessibility to accredited professional certifications and associated innovation services, now available in Arabic. Concurrently, the "Innovation Hub," the institutional innovation arm of the esteemed "Matters" company, stands resolute in its mission to fortify organizational innovation ecosystems. By delivering innovative solutions that underpin the adoption of efficacious and sustainable innovation strategies, the company asserts its leadership in driving innovation initiatives across diverse sectors, with a pronounced emphasis on future technologies and sustainable development strategies.
The event signified a pivotal stride towards the attainment of the objectives outlined in Oman Vision 2040. It underscored the indispensable role of innovation in propelling the economic and social domains within Oman, whilst positioning the country as a burgeoning regional nexus for innovation and ingenuity.
