The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth and Oman Football Association (OFA) unveiled the latest preparations for the final match of the His Majesty’s Sultan Football Cup 2023-24 Championship on Tuesday in a press meet in Muscat. The final match of the coveted cup will take place on May 10 in Khasab between Al Nahda and Dhofar clubs. The match will kick off at 7:30 pm at Khasab Sports Complex.
Hisham bin Juma al Sinani, Director of Sports Sponsorship and Development at the Ministry and Chairman of the Main Committee for Final, Mohammed bin Suleiman al Yahmadi, Executive Director of OFA, Abdullah bin Ahmed al Shuhi, Assistant General Manager in Musandam Governor office and Mohammed bin Salem al Asmi, Operations Director at the National Travel Operator were the speakers during the press conference.
Hisham al Sinani affirmed that hosting the final match in Khasab at Musandam Governorate resulted after many site visits and coordination to assess the region's readiness to host this significant event. “This event will support in the growth of the governorate through attending of the crowd during the final and emphasised that one of the goals of hosting the final is to promote tourism in the governorate,” he added.
“There are many plans and programmes for this final match in Khasab. We will announce very soon the details of these events which will be organised on the sidelines of the HM Cup,” he added.
Mohammed al Yahmadi stated that this season's final match of the HM Cup in Khasab will be an exceptional occasion. “We had managed with our partners to overcome with the challenges in cooperation with the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth and the Musandam Governor's Office. There are many surprises for this year’s final match including raffle draw for two cars and phone devices. Besides that many other events and activities will be held across Khasab city as part of the HM Cup match,” he said.
The Ministry in cooperation with its official partners has managed to arrange many packages for the fans to attend this crucial match.
Mohammed al Asmi said that discounted rate of flight packages were arranged to support crowd attendance coming through Salalah Airport and Muscat International Airport to Musandam Governorate. “These packages include two packages from Muscat International Airport, economy class starting from RO 60 with a two-night stay, and the second package in business class starting from RO 160 with a two-night stay. For those departing via Salalah Airport, ticket prices start from RO 75 for economy class and include transportation to and from the airport,” he said.
Khasab Sports Complex can accommodate 10,000 spectators and it is the first time that Khasab city at Musandam Governorate is hosting the His Majesty the Sultan Football Cup Championship since its establishment. Hosting the coveted cup final match in Musandam Governorate is a continuation of the successful strategic partnerships between the Ministry, OFA and the governorates offices across the Sultanate of Oman especially after the successful experience of hosting the Super Cup final in Al Batinah North Governorate and HM Cup in Dhofar and Sur.
