Red Warriors all set for final camp before Asian Cup

Muscat: The confident Red Warriors are all set to continue their second preparatory stage by arriving to Abu Dhabi on Friday. This abroad camp will be the last destination for the team ahead of their upcoming major assignment in 2024 AFC Asian Cup in Qatar next January. Oman head coach Branko Ivankovic is well aware this event will be very crucial for him as the Red Warrior’s audience are looking for an outstanding show for the team in Qatar 2023 and reaching to further in the final stages.


Coach Branko is known as one of the highly experienced coaches in Asian continent as the Croatian coach had led Iran in the 2006 Fifa World Cup.


An impressive mixture of experienced and young players squad will raise Oman team's chances for a thrilling show in Qatar 2023 campaign. Oman had presented an exciting show in the last edition of the AFC Asian Cup to qualify for the first time to the knockout stage. It is expected Oman team will receive a great fans support in this edition of the AFC Asian Cup which will act as an opportunity to go further in the knockout stages.

During the camp in Abu Dhabi, Oman will play two friendly matches. The opening warm-up will be against China on December 29 while the following game is scheduled against the UAE on January 6. Both matches will unveil the finalised starting list for the head coach ahead of the AFC Asian Cup.


Oman showed a strong start in their recent Preliminary Joint Qualification - Round 2 for the Fifa World Cup 2026 and the AFC Asian Cup Saudi Arabia 2027 as they won against Chinese Taipei by 3-0 before going down 1-0 against Kyrgyzstan in Bishkek.
